My eyesight is deteriorating, but I'm trying to rekindle the artistic impulse after a while out of it. I got out  a couple of pictures of stuff I did a few years ago to see if I can get going again.

Watch the Birdie

Mixed media. Well, collage really. Who doesn't love cutting and sticking.

It's called "Watch the Birdie".

Back to the world!

What a long time I've been away. The creative urge faded for a while. I started some blue things, and I don't know what it it is about blue, but it stops me in my tracks!
Here's a bit of sampling I've been doing.
The big button is from my collection of buttons by Mcanaraks .
The bit that looks like lace is really Lutradur with puff paint using one of Lynda Monk's Thermofax screens, then zapped and painted. Thanks to Lynda Monk .
I get bogged down in trying to make a piece to join the samples. Who wants cupboards full of samples, for goodness sake!
Still, I take pictures to inspire me. Not blue.

New direction

After a long break, I've decided to revive this blog in a new form, concentrating on my artwork. The holidays and daily life stuff will move to a new blog called geekembroiderer.blogspot.co.uk.
Just to start off in the right direction, here's an embroidery I sold at last November's art club exhibition:

Earrings

When I met Margaret of forrestfishings.co.uk at Kirkcudbright, who makes the classy feather earrings, I told her I made earrings too and that I had a blog. BUT, there aren't many earrings on my blog, so I've made a new Earrings page (see the Pages list on the right). This some of my current stock, and I'll add more as I make new batches.

Grasmere

Joan from the Art club organised an outing to Grasmere, to see the annual Lake Artists exhibition.
Some really good paintings, none of which I'm allowed to reproduce, and I was glad to see some high-class ceramics too, from  Geoff and Christine Cox (the organisers of Potfest) and Annie Peaker.
It was a grey day, so I failed to get great photos of the magnificent surrounding scenery, but here's a flavour.

Oops, I managed to get in on a wedding!

I had a nice lunch here, friendly staff.

Jackdaws were everywhere.
