New page

I've just added another page showing some more old work before I lose track of it altogether; see 'Really Old Work' on the right.

Just come back from the art club Christmas lunch at the Farm Shop: http://cumbriancottage.org.uk/
It was delicious. See my review on Tripadvisor.

Collagraph, felt and print

Yesterday and today I spent with Marlene and Mo at Allendale Forge Studios http://www.allendaleforgestudios.co.uk/
learning stuff from Caroline Mann and Thelma Russell.
Day 1 we made some felt and some collagraph printing blocks, day 2 we made Thermofax prints on our felt and printed on paper from the collagraph blocks.
Here are some of our efforts:

Mo's felt and Marlene's felt:

My felt (we all like the cow parsley!)

Knitting & Stitching Show

I went to the Knitting & Stitching show in Harrogate on Saturday, and some exhibitors allowed photography! not that it's easy, because of all the reflections . . .
But here are some of the ones I particularly liked.

Larch Cottage Nursery

On October 12th I went with Maureen and Marlene for a day out to Larch Cottage Nursery at Melkinthorpe, to have a nice lunch which it was, and to see some autumn colour, which was splendid. And some sculptures too.

Catch-up 3

September 12th-19th we went back to Fuerteventura this time to Caleta de Fuste.

Beach scene - huge beach

Night view of our hotel

Lizard trinkets everywhere

I liked this t-shirt - something about the colours and the artwork. He's a Thai designer.

Catch-up 1

Well, what a long time since I've posted. A year of almost unremitting gloomy wet weather has led to creative apathy. Still, there were a few outings to lift the spirits. First a good weekend in Edinburgh with my daughter at the end of August, hoping to catch the remains of some Fringe art shows. I like Edinburgh.

Display of teas in a shop window
  Some buildings I like

Part of an art installation at the old veterinary school - there were paintings and a soundscape in each of several sheds

The new clock in the refurbished Museum of Scotland

Some radioactive fluorescing glass bottles

Pretty patterns and glass in the shell house in the Queen Mother's garden at the Botanical Gardens

And a trip to Leith to visit Ritchie Collins, a painter whose work I really like. He was very nice!

Catch-up 2

On the third of September I went with my friends Marlene and Maureen to see some of the art studios opened in Cumbria for C-Art. I didn't take many pictures though we saw some interesting work.
I took a few at a sculpture studio in Low Hesket:
